This always happens on my Birthday...or on the first of the month...or on other people's birthdays...ok point being I have been wanting to start a blog that I will actually post on. So without further adieu, here she is in all her glory. Well I think she is glorious.
Ok so what is my first post going to be about? The Title. Yes, isn't it a wonderful title? "Birkenstocks and Glitter." Couldn't describe myself any better than those two things. I love to be outside, getting my hands full of dirt and soil and mud and compost! I love hicking, the beach and just plane outside stuff-hence the "Birkenstocks." On the other hand I like girly things too. I love lipstick, nail polish (actually this has become a new thing in the last month or two), craft paper, glitter, makeup, big country star hair and fancy china cups...and so yes that is where "glitter" comes in.
I wanted the title and the blog itself to encompass my personality. I have always tried to be like this person, or do everything on that womans blog, achieve the height of that girls hair, wear this kind of clothing to be like another. I say to all of this, nonesense. I've decided, now that I am at the ripe ol' age of 31, to just be myself. I don't have to be all "Birkenstocks" or all "glitter." I can get dressed up to go on a date with handsome, or I can put on my birkenstocks, don an apron and go to town hoeing in the garden. Both these characteristics are how the Lord Almighty created me to tick, and I'm ever so glad. I don't have to pick one or the other.
The funny thing is these kinds of thoughts tend to come on my Birthday, or a little before, and thus I decided to write about them.
